Why do returning agencies have to attend the information session?
The Agency Partnership Plan changes each year based on feedback from agencies representatives and volunteers. Additionally the turnover rate we’ve experienced is 40%. Therefore we need to deepen our relationship with each agency, year after year, in preparation for each Timeraiser.
Does Framework Timeraiser conduct screening of potential volunteers?
No. Just like we don’t interfere with your volunteer management program, we do not conduct any screening of volunteers. However, Framework Timeraiser provides a number of helpful tools, programs and resources to help better prepare potential volunteers. The ultimate decision for a volunteer match is left up to you and the volunteer.
How many people can an agency expect to engage at the Timeraiser?
Some agencies receive interest from 35+ participants others receive only 1 or 2. On average agencies have about 12 responses from volunteers; some with great potential and others that are not.
Why do we have to submit an application?
During the selection process, we can ensure-based on the submissions-that the Timeraiser is presenting choice of agency types and volunteer opportunities.
Why do we have to attend the workshops if we are returning agency?
We hope experienced partner agencies or new agencies with expertise in volunteer management can share this with organizations at various stages processes, tools and ideas around engaging, training and retaining volunteers.
Why do you host agency visits?
The better equipped and knowledgeable we are about your agency and volunteer management program, the better chance we can be proactive in directing a volunteer towards something that matches their interest, passion and availability.
How do your work with Volunteer Toronto, United Way of Toronto and BoardMatch?
Volunteer Toronto allows Framework Timeraiser to host workshops in their building. We also refer volunteers having trouble making a connection through the Timeraiser to them. Timeraiser staff sit on a number of committees of United Way of Toronto and BoardMatch to make sure we stay connected with other capacity building organizations.
Why do you focus so much on capacity building?
In our inaugural year, 18 of main points of contact left their organizations. In year 2 it was 19 agency representatives. And amongst the pool of partner agencies there is significant range between the size, scope, resources and experience of volunteer management. For the Timeraiser to be successful, we need to be able to facilitate the converstation.
How do you outreach to attract participants?
We have a comprehensive awareness plan. The focus is on peer-to-peer and corporate outreach.
